An introduction to Founder Ima Nakajo

Ima Nakajo, A Woman of Conviction

Tama Dôhôkai founder and former chief director Ima Nakajo was a woman of conviction. Immediately after the Second World War, she sacrificed her personal property to help women and children who lost a spouse, parent, or home based on the strong belief that helping the needy by all possible means is imperative. The spirit of the founder Nakajo, who served others her entire life with empathy and understanding of the pain of others as a guiding belief, is kept alive in the fundamental principles found in the Mission Statement of the Tama Dôhôkai.

  • Have deep sympathy for others.
  • Express gratitude to communities.
  • Use resources such as water and electricity carefully.
  • Always take care to prevent accidents and fires.
